A perplexing problem...The Girls!

Not my ears but "my girls" sure do!!
Please enjoy the music as you read :-)

I have two of these, the girls is my nickname for them. They are rather large in size and currently are causing me a hefty say the least. Over the years I have been googled at due to the girls, whistled at too, and even jeered at by envious onlookers. Personally I would have gladly given "the girls" away.

Currently, the girls are causing me great problems. One because they are rather large and they are weighing on my achy ra ribs and back. And I have had one heck of a time trying to corral them also. They are forever out there roaming about freely like no ones business.  I really believe I should have to carry a weapon's license...I mean really they could do that much damage when they are flapping around.

Well, in any case, I am now trying to figure out what in the world can painlessly cage the girls. I have tried just about everything on the market out there and very few things have worked without causing great pain in my rib cage. By now, I am hoping you realize what I am talking about when I refer to "the girls". Call me old fashion or whatever but that is my name for "them".

So far, I have found through a dear friend's recommendation one bra that works great for the daytime. It comes in larger sizes too. And the most important thing to me is it doesn't have an under wire. Whoever came up with that invention should be tared and feathered and then forced to wear an under wire bra for the remainder of their days. Fair punishment in my ra book.

I have no doubt I have ra in my ribcage. But...even prior to my ra days, I was NOT one for under wire bras. They just cut off my circulation and I was a fit 130 lbs. back in dem dar days.

Anyway...back to taming "the girls".  What I am looking for would come in cotton, have NO under wire thank you very much, wider straps, and maybe...just maybe come in something more fashionable then white, beige or black. Yes, I have seen the nursing bras and I am considering trying one of those. But why? I am not nursing anything but sore ribs and shoulders. Why on this green earth can't someone design a comfortable bra for larger "girls" made out of cotton? Or maybe I will forever be left to wear my now (mind you it took me 13 years to find these...thank you Cathy for your recommendation) Playtex 18 hour exercise bras.

The girls are forcing me to harness them even in my sleep and it is for this reason I am looking for a cotton based pen for them.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Oh yeah...did I mention that "The girls" have graduated to a DD.

Silly me, I was really trying to figure out what "the girls" were...and then I got to the part about the bra!

Deb aka AbcsOfra said... mean you don't have any suggestions for me? At the very least I hope you got a chuckle from it all :-) Did you blush? Did ya? Did ya?

OMG Deb I cannot stop cute, but sadly true is this! I too have the same problem although my husband loves the 36DD that I am! I hate underwires as well and I have found a couple of bras that work but they are in the basic colors.....Nan

Deb aka AbcsOfra said... should know me by now...not only do I believe that laughter is the best medicine, I try to "dose" it out too. So glad you saw the humor as I intended but this really is a big..opps there I go again problem for me. So fess up...what are the names of the bras. Even if they are in the basic colors. Maybe I can tye dye one of them.

Hahaha! I too have this problem and have a tendency to find myself singing "do your 'girls' hang low? Do they wobble too and fro?" in my head at times. I have been looking for comfortable bras forever though because mine have always been large. I'm now at like a DDD/E/F depending on where I get them from.

I have a tendency to get cloth bras from Lane Bryant. They hook in the back but have an elastic band at the bottom. I don't know that I'd call them uber comfortable but I have kind of given up on finding something that doesn't cause me pain. Not that this is a great thing, but it's just something I deal with unfortunately. Sigh.

I am right along with you but it is my shoulders that have been bothering me. I am thinking of getting the bras that I used to use. I forgot the names of them but they were featured on Oprah. It is a sports bra & they are very pricey. I think I paid $50.00 for one & I bought 2 of them. I used them up. You look like you have a una-boob but to me they were oh so comfortable. If my old brain would work I could try to remember the name. I will get back to you, if I remember. LOL

Tiff..thanks for the idea. We have a Lane Bryant in one of our malls here. When I get over there, I will check into this. I can try it on in the store to see how it works for me. Thanks. And I am glad I am not the only one singing that song :-) gotta know by now I enjoy your blog. I am always waiting on your next post :-)

Dutch...ouch...shoulders. Now that is a really tough one. I want the wider straps for that reason. If I wear thinner ones I get this huge valley in mine from the pressure. I think my ribs and other joints just hurt more so I tend to focus on the "squeekie" joints Anyone say oil me up! And oh yeah..I do remember her show on them. I bet if I google them I can find them.

Thank you all...we "girls" need to stick

OMG! I can so relate to this post. I am between a D and DD and my problem is that I am small around. I can generally find bras that fit and I am fine with underwire, but swimsuits, button up shirts, and dresses are often very hard to fit. I either have to go bigger on the outfit or plan on hanging out. Lately I have just been kind of hanging out. My husband loves it! My daughter doesn't. :( Please post if you find the perfect bra because I would also love something in cotton without the underwire.

Deb aka AbcsOfra said... made me smile...oh those where the days my friend :-) Hanging out with "the girls"...RLOL! Anyway, I am going "there" again. You can be sure I will post should I find suitable housing for "the girls". I wish I could wear the underwires but they just kill me. I know they help alot with support and all but for me, they just hurt too much. Since you can wear the underwire ones, have you tried the minimizer ones? They supposedly cut you down like a size and help with the spillage.

Thanks Deb for your endearing candor. I have a feeling there are many women wishing they had that "problem" with "spillage." ;-) LOL, and at the same time, hope you find a solution and share it with the rest of us!

We used to sing this song at camp (and since it was a girl scout camp, you know we substituted the lyrics whenever we could get away with it!). I have the same problem and am getting to the point that i will have to do something about it- even my beloved sports tops are getting too snug! No suggestions yet although my sister knows a great place- I will get the name and check back! Oh, and I'm 100% with you on the subject of underwires! Ugh!

Thrive with RA...they can have "my girls" and all the spillage that goes with them. A nice C for cute would have been my preference :-) always loved going to camp. For two weeks each summer in fact. We could never alter the words as it was a church but I am sure you guys did :-) If you track down that all means share. Thanks for the comment!

I can really relate. My girls are a DD as well. I've had three shoulder surgeries in the last couple of years and finding a bra that would work (once I started wearing one again) was an important task. I found these very comfortable, inexpensive, well-made bras at Wal-Mart. One of the best parts is that it has front hooks. I don't wear these when I'm "dressed up", but they're great for every day wear. Hope this helps:

Carlascorner...Well that do look doable for night time sleeping. Thank you! I will have to give them a try. So kind of you to share this information!
